Fernando Lamas (December 9, 1915 – October 8, 1982) was an Argentine-American actor, best known for his suave demeanor and melodramatic roles in Hollywood films. Born as Enrique Martínez Ferrer y Carballo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lamas initially pursued a career as a lawyer before transitioning to acting. In 1936, Lamas moved to Spain where he studied drama under the tutelage of renowned actress Margarita Xirgu. In 1944, he married Dolores del Río, a Mexican actress and a major influence on Lamas' career. The couple had two children together before divorcing in 1952. In 1957, Lamas married actress Arlene Dahl, with whom he had three children. They divorced in 1960, but remarried in 1980 and remained together until his death.
