Birch Bayh (February 25, 1928 – March 14, 2019) was an influential American politician, educator, and author who served as a United States Senator from Indiana for three terms from 1963 to 1981. Born in Bedford, Indiana, Bayh graduated with a degree in Journalism from DePauw University in 1950 and later earned his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1952.
